Toseina 2 mg/ml Codeine

Toseina 2 mg/ml is used in the symptomatic treatment of dry cough in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age. It is not recommended for adolescents with respiratory problems for the treatment of cough. Codeine lean cough syrup 250ml comes from Spain. The duration of treatment is 3 days. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 10 to 20 mg of codeine (5 to 10 ml) at intervals of at least 6 hours. Pediatric population: Tosein is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.

• Codeine (as Phosphate) – 10mg
• Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride – 7.5mg
• Chlorpheniramine Maleate – 0.5 mg
• Excipients – CS

Dosage

• Children up to 6 years of age: 2.5 ml, 3 times a day.
• Children from 6 to 12 years of age: 5 ml, 3 times a day.
• Adults and children over 12 years: 5-10 ml, 3 times a day.

Composition of Toseina 2 mg/ml

The active substance is codeine phosphate hemihydrate. Each ml of oral solution contains 2 mg of codeine phosphate hemihydrate.

The other ingredients (excipients) are:

• sodium benzoate (E-211),
• citric acid monohydrate,
• hydroxyethylcellulose,
• sodium saccharin,
• aspartame (E-951),
• sorbitol (E-420),
• contramaro aroma,
• raspberry essence,
• azorubine (E -122) and purified water

What the Toseina 2 mg/ml look like ?

This medicine is a red solution that comes in 100 and 250-ml bottles accompanied by a measuring cup. Store in the original package in order to protect it from light. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after EXP.

The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated. Medications should not be disposed of down the drain or in the trash. Deposit the containers and medications that you do not need at the SIGRE Point of the pharmacy. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of containers and medicines you don’t need. This way you will help to protect the environment.

Possible side effects

This medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Be aware that many of the effects may be symptoms of your illness and will therefore improve when you start to feel better. Although the frequency of side effects is not known, as it cannot be estimated from the available data, these are:

• constipation,
• nausea,
• vomiting,
• dizziness and somnolence.

Seizures, mental confusion, altered mood (happy or sad), and itching have also been reported. Skin rashes may appear in allergic patients. At high doses and in the long term it can cause respiratory depression (slow or insufficiently forceful breathing). If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
